Common Invisalign Questions
Q: HOW CAN I GET STARTED WITH INVISALIGN?
A: Contact Our office (949) 640-0202 to set up a complimentary consultation to see if you are a candidate for Invisalign. You do NOT need a referral from your dentist to be seen by a specialist such as a Dr. DiGiovanni.
Q: HOW DO I KNOW IF I’M A CANDIDATE FOR INVISALIGN TREATMENT?
A: Dr. DiGiovanni takes great pride in being a clinical expert with Invisalign, so come in and find out how you can get started on your Invisalign journey. As an Invisalign Diamond+ Provider and a board-certified orthodontist, he can determine the ideal course of action to give you the best outcome.
Q: CAN I GO TO ANY DENTIST FOR INVISALIGN?
A: Any dentist can do Invisalign, but there is a wide range of experience, expertise and skill among dentists that offer Invisalign to their patients. Satisfaction and quality to your result will greatly vary! Orthodontic specialists exist for a reason. Entrust your orthodontic treatment is handled by a qualified specialist.
Questions you may want to ask the dentist include, "Are you a board certified orthodontist?" and "How many Invisalign cases have you completed?" will give you a good idea how qualified your dentist is with Invisalign. Without a doubt, a board certified specialist with a lot of experience will be able to provide you with the best result possible.
Q: DOES INVISALIGN HURT?
A: No. The experience with Invisalign is very different than what you experience with braces. When you put in a new set of aligners, your teeth can be slightly sensitive for a day or two, which just means the treatment is working. It is not common for patients to report pain from the pressure of the aligners.
Q: HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO WEAR MY ALIGNERS?
A: you MUST wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day. If you do not, they simply will not work. You’ll only take them out only when eating and when brushing and flossing your teeth.
Q: HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO COME IN FOR APPOINTMENTS DURING INVISALIGN TREATMENT?
A: You will typically be issued enough aligner trays to allow you to come in approximately every two months. However, the frequency of visits will ultimately depend on your specific needs.
Q: CAN TEENAGERS BE TREATED WITH INVISALIGN?
A: Of course. Invisalign® Teen was made specifically for teenagers and we’ve achieved some pretty amazing results with it.
Q: HOW LONG DOES INVISALIGN TREATMENT LAST?
A: The duration of your Invisalign treatment will depend on how complex your case is and is completely dependent upon you following our instructions for wearing your aligners. It varies case by case with treatments ranging from 2 months to 2 years. Most Invisalign cases are completed in similar time that braces would take. If you would like to decrease your treatment time we do offer Propel which can significantly accelerate your treatment.
Q: ARE THERE FOOD RESTRICTIONS WITH INVISALIGN?
A: Nope! Invisalign® aligners are removable, so you’ll take them out to eat. You can continue to enjoy all of the foods you love without any restrictions.
Q: IS INVISALIGN MORE EXPENSIVE?
A: Invisalign is typically the same cost as braces-We don’t want our patients to pick a treatment based on its price.
Q: IS INVISALIGN COSMETIC? WILL MY INSURANCE COVER IT?
A: Invisalign is NOT just cosmetic. Invisalign and braces have the same insurance code since they both address a patient’s functional needs and improve their bite and oral health. If you have orthodontic benefits or coverage, you can use it in our office for your Invisalign treatment. We accept the following insurance including Aetna, Assurant, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Delta Dental, DenteMax, DNOA, Guardian, Humana, MetLife, Principal, United Concordia and United Healthcare.
Q: WILL I NEED TO WEAR RETAINERS AFTER I FINISH MY INVISALIGN TREATMENT?
A. Yes. Retainer wear is very important to maintain your new smile. We will give you retainers and instructions on wear when your treatment is complete.
